1. Know your visa type: review the visa requirements with regard to your purpose of visit to the Russian Federation
2. Your visa may be processed normally (4 to 20 days) at normal fee or express (from 1 to 3 days) at additional cost. For a tourist group an average processing time is 14-20 days for normal process and 1 week for express process.
3. All visa applications must be printed out. All documents listed under corresponding visa type requirements should be submitted in physical form, all confirmations/applications/pictures/documents should be printed out.
4. The final cost of visa depends on your citizenship. Visa processing fees are non-refundable. All fees are collected in USD, in cash.
5. Double-check your visa after having collected your passport. Make sure all numbers, dates, terms of validity and other printed information is in correspondence with your official documents (passport) and the parameters of your visit. In case of any errors or misspellings on your visa, please inform us no later than 3 working days after receiving your passport by contacting us by e-mail. We will then be able to correct your visa free of charge. Please, note that the Consular section does not bear responsibility for any issues at the entry to the Russian Federation caused by the mistakes in the visas that have not been checked prior to the departure from Indonesia.
6. Only visas to the Russian Federation can be issued at the Consular section of the Russian Embassy. For visas of neighboring countries and countries of CIS, please apply to the corresponding diplomatic representatives.

Tourist visa

A tourist visa allows a single, double or multiple entry into Russia for tourism, participating in exhibitions and auctions or medical consultations (not treatment). It is also allowed to hold short-term business negotiations; however, for general business purposes please apply for a business visa. Visa validity period is for up to 90 days for single and double visas and up to 6 months for a multiple visa. At the same time stay period in the Russian Federation is limited to 30 days for single and double visas and for 90 days in every 180 days term for multiple tourist visas.

A double-entry tourist visa is issued only in case the applicant is planning to visit a CIS country between the two stopovers in Russia (proof required). In all other cases a single-entry tourist visa is issued.

Tourist visa requirements:

1. Printed visa application form with 1 passport size good quality photo (size 35x45 mm, zoom 70%) and signature hand-written by the applicant in the due field of the form.
2. Original passport valid for at least 6 months from the visa expiry date with at least 2 empty pages.
3. Indonesian citizens can apply for a tourist visa using hotel booking voucher. Please contact your hotel in Russian directly in order to get a hotel booking voucher.
4. Other citizens will need to have a tourist voucher from a licensed Russian travel agent.
   A tourist voucher IS NOT a hotel booking. It is issued only by certified Russian travel agents (for more information on obtaining a voucher please contact your hotel in Russia). Item “Russian host organization” of the application form must contain the name of the said agent and its Reference Number (MBT).
5. Confirmation of reception from a licensed Russian travel agency. This document is issued together with the tourist voucher by the travel agent and should contain the following data:

• confirmation number;
• number of entries;
• full name, date of birth, sex, citizenship and passport number of the tourist;
• duration of stay (dates of entry and exit);
• purpose of visit (specified by the current Russian legislation);
• itinerary and places of accommodation;
• receiving organization’s address and its MVT;
• signature of an authorized person of the tour agency and its official seal.

From EU passport holders also required:

• Medical insurance covering the whole period of stay in Russia
• Purchased tickets to and from the Russian Federation as a proof of visit dates.

5. Visa fee in USD, cash.

Information for passengers of cruise vessels only:

 Cruise vessel passengers get a visa waiver for 72 hours if they have a valid passport, are accommodated on board the vessel during the whole period of stay, come ashore with a group to travel along the specified tourist routes only (please ask your travel agent for more information), and if master of the vessel submits the passenger list 72 hours prior to the arrival of the vessel at the port. In all other cases, you have to apply for a tourist visa.

Business visa 

A business visa allows single, double or multiple entries into Russia for business purposes (it can also be requested by crew members and journalists). Single- and double-entry visas are issued for a period of up to 3 months. Multiple-entry visas are issued for up to 1 year and allow staying in Russia for up to 90 days within every 180-day period. Employment in Russia with a business visa is prohibited. If you plan to work in Russia, please apply for a work visa.

Business visa requirements:

1. Printed visa application form with 1 passport size good quality photo (size 35x45 mm, zoom 80%, white background of the photo) and signature hand-written by the applicant in the due field of the form.
2. Original passport valid for at least 6 months from the visa expiry date with at least 2 empty pages.
3. Original invitation issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation (original paper only) OR an electronic invitation issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
4. For Australian citizens only: detailed curriculum vitae in the RUSSIAN LANGUAGE.

NOTE: If you have a visa reference number provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, please inform the consular staff when applying for the visa.

Private visa

Private visa is required in case you wish to enter Russian Federation upon your friend’s invitation, want to meet your family or need to receive urgent medical treatment. If you are a foreign national having a Russian spouse or parent traveling together with them to Russia with a private visit, please see Visa for Family Members of Russian Citizens. Private visa is valid for up to 90 days and can be issued for single or double entry. Dates of validity of the visa will correspond with the dates mentioned on your private invitation.

Please note: The consular section of the Embassy of Russia in Indonesia recommends that you do not purchase tickets or make bookings that cannot be cancelled without cost prior to the issuance of a visa, except where it is a specific requirement stated as part of the visa application.

Private visa requirements (single or double entry):

1. Printed visa application form with 1 passport size good quality photo (size 35x45 mm, zoom 70%) and signature hand-written by the applicant in the due field of the form.
2. Original passport valid for at least 6 months from the visa expiry date with at least 2 empty pages.
3. The official original invitation issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation upon the request of the receiving person/relative/friend in Russia sent to the applicant by post or courier.
4. Visa fee in USD, cash

Visa for family members of Russian citizens 

Private visas can also be obtained by foreign nationals being close relatives of Russian citizens for traveling together to Russia. Applications for single, double entry - for up to 90 days, and multiple entry - for up to 12 months are accepted. Please, consider that the visa processing time is not less than 5 days, may take up to 20 days and is solely at the Embassy’s discretion.

The list of close relatives that may be invited by a hand-written invitation from a Russian citizen includes:

• spouse
• parents (adoptive parents)
• children (adopted children)
• spouses of children
• full and half brothers and sisters
• grandparents
• grandchildren

The list of supporting documents confirming relationship: marriage certificates; birth certificates; court decisions on adoption; certificates issued by the registry office or other institution that has the relevant archives must be submitted in original. If mentioned documents were issued by the country different from the Russian Federation, they must be legalized by the Russian Embassy in a country of origin or apostilled with a translation into Russian.

Visa requirements for Family Members of Russian citizens (single, double or multiple entry):

1. Printed visa application form with 1 passport size good quality photo (size 35x45 mm, zoom 70%) and signature hand-written by the applicant in the due field of the form.
2. Original passport valid for at least 6 months from the visa expiry date with at least 2 empty pages.
3. Original passport of the Russian family member who you are planning to travel with.
4. A valid document certifying close relation between you and your Russian family member (original only).
5. Paid air, train or other tickets to Russia and back or to a third country (copy of a valid visa to such country also required) for you and your Russian family member traveling with you.
6. Copy of medical insurance policy covering the period of your stay in Russia.
7. A written visa request made out by your Russian family member at the Consular Section (sample of request is available at our office

The validity of visa will correspond with the dates stated in the invitation.

An invitation from your family member being a Russian citizen can also be done on the territory of the Russian Federation at a Russian notary and then the ORIGINAL invitation can be sent to a foreign relative for submission at the Consular section without the presence of the inviting party. Please note: the notarized passport copy of the inviting party must be presented with the invitation. In addition to the invitation, it is also necessary to present all documents confirming the relationship (considering the possible change of the surname).

Please, be reminded that the procedure of the migration registration implies informing (notifying) a relevant territorial office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of a foreign citizen's arrival to the place of sojourn. The inviting person bears responsibility that this must be carried out in the course of seven working days after arrival of the foreign citizen to the Russian Federation

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: All applicants over 12 years old must come in person to apply for the Russian Visa as well as the member of the family who has the Russian citizenship.

Student visa

A student visa allows a single entry into Russia for studying at an educational institution (including short-term courses). It is issued for a term of up to 3 months and can be extended to each subsequent year (but not beyond the tuition contract expiry date) by the division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia located in the foreign student’s registered place of stay.

Student visa requirements (single entry only):

1. Printed visa application form with 1 passport size good quality photo (size 35x45 mm, zoom 70%) and signature hand-written by the applicant in the due field of the form.
2. Original passport valid for at least 18 months from the visa expiry date with at least 2 empty pages.
3. Letter of invitation (LOI) which is the original invitation issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation upon the request of the receiving educational institution/university/academy/college in Russia sent to the applicant by post or courier
4. A valid HIV certificate issued by a hospital in Indonesia. An HIV certificate must contain the examinee’s personal data, birth date and bear the signature of the doctor who conducted the test, with the official seal of the medical institution affixed. An HIV certificate is considered valid for 3 months from its date of issue.

Work visa

A work (employment) visa allows a single or multiple entries into Russia for employment at a Russian entity. It is issued for a period of up to 3 months for single-entry entry visas and for up to 3 years for multiple-entry visas.

Work visa requirements:

1. Printed visa application form with 1 passport size good quality photo (size 35x45 mm, zoom 70%) and signature hand-written by the applicant in the due field of the form.
2. Original passport valid for at least 6 months from the visa expiry date with at least 2 empty pages.
3. Letter of invitation (LOI) issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (original only).
   LOI is issued by a regional division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia at the request of the hosting organization.
4. A valid HIV certificate issued by a hospital in Indonesia. An HIV certificate must contain the examinee’s personal data, birth date and bear the signature of the doctor who conducted the test, with the official seal of the medical institution affixed. An HIV certificate is considered valid for 3 months from its date of issue.

Transit visa

A transit visa allows a single or a double entry into Russia on a transit trip. Transit visas are normally valid for maximum of 3 days if travelling by air and 10 if travelling by train. A Transit Visa is not required if you remain in the transit zone of the airport in order to catch an onward or connecting flight within 24 hours of arrival. .Please check with your travel agent or airline whether you will be staying in the same terminal/transit zone in order to catch a connecting flight before you decide whether transit visa is required or not. Passengers of cruise vessels should apply for a tourist visa (if required)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Passengers travelling to and from Belarus or Kazakhstan via Russian Federation need to obtain the transit Russian visa irrespectively of their length of stay at the airport.

Transit visa requirements:

1. Printed visa application form with 1 passport size good quality photo (size 35x45 mm, zoom 70%) and signature hand-written by the applicant in the due field of the form.
2. Original passport valid for at least 6 months from the visa expiry date with at least 2 empty pages.
3. A valid visa to the country neighboring the Russian Federation/country of the destination or the passport of this country.
4. Tickets with fixed/confirmed departure date from the Russian Federation OR a covering letter explaining the purpose as well as the routes of journey together with the photocopy of the car registration certificate, stating the details of the owner and the vehicle in  case  you  are  travelling  by  car.  Transit  visa  would  be  issued  based  on  the fastest  journey  to  the  destination.  The average daily distance to be covered by car should not be less than 500 km.
5. Visa fee in USD, cash

Note: Transit visa is not required in case a person does not leave the territory of the airport of arrival, joins the connecting flight at the same airport and the time period between the two connecting flights does not exceed 24 hours.

Humanitarian visa

A humanitarian visa allows single, double or multiple entries into Russia for making contacts and developing ties in science, culture, education and sports, doing charity, engaging in religious activities, including pilgrimage, or delivering humanitarian aid. Single- and double-entry visas are issued for up to 3 months. Multiple-entry visas are issued for up to 1 year and allow staying in Russia up to 90 days within every 180-day period.

Humanitarian visa requirements:

1. Printed visa application form with 1 passport size good quality photo (size 35x45 mm, zoom 70%) and signature hand-written by the applicant in the due field of the form.
2. Original passport valid for at least 6 months from the visa expiry date with at least 2 empty pages.
3. The official original invitation issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation upon the request of the receiving organization in Russia sent to the applicant by post or courier OR the visa request letter (in original or a good quality color scanned copy) issued by a host scientific/cultural/educational/sports/religious/philanthropic organization of the Russian Federation with the obligatory mentioning of:

• for the invited person - name and surname, date of birth, sex, citizenship, number and type of the identity document, dates and purpose of travel, number of entries;
• for the inviting organization - full name and legal and de facto addresses; name, surname and position of the authorized signatory of the letter, and his/her telephone number.

Diplomatic and service passport holders

A diplomatic visa allows a single entry into Russia to holders of diplomatic passports. It is issued for up to 3 months and can be extended to each subsequent year by obtaining a multiple-entry visa (only for officers of foreign diplomatic and consular missions in Russia and their family members).

A diplomatic visa may also be issued to holders of ordinary passports who are recognized as having a diplomatic status by the Russian authorities.

A service visa allows a single, double or multiple entry into Russia to holders of service passports. It is issued for up to 3 months and can be extended to each subsequent year by obtaining a multiple-entry visa (only for personnel of foreign diplomatic and consular missions in Russia and their family members).

A service (official) visa may also be issued to holders of ordinary passports who are recognized as having an official status by the Russian authorities.

Diplomatic and Service visa requirements:

1. Printed visa application form with 1 passport size good quality photo (size 35x45 mm, zoom 70%) and signature hand-written by the applicant in the due field of the form. Note: Heads of state and government are not required to attach a photo to the application form.
2. Original passport valid for at least 6 months from the visa expiry date with at least 2 empty pages.
3. Verbal Note with a request to grant an appropriate type of visa.
   If you have a visa reference number provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia please inform the consular staff when applying for the visa.
4. For Australian citizens only: detailed curriculum vitae in the RUSSIAN LANGUAGE.
5. Diplomatic and service visas are free of charge.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Citizens of the Republic of Indonesia who are also Diplomatic or Service passports holders have the right to stay in Russia for up to 14 days with no visa required.

E-visa and conditions for issuing

Starting from August 1, 2023, foreign citizens including nationals of the Republic of Indonesia are eligible to get a Russian electronic visa.
1. Application: https://electronic-visa.kdmid.ru or smartphone app. Applicants must fill a visa form, attach a digital photo and a copy of their passport with a machine-readable page. No other documents are required to get an e-visa. The process takes not less than 4 days.
2. Visa payment can be made by card trough website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia: https://electronic-visa.kdmid.ru. The total fee, including the consular fee, bank commission, transaction costs of the payment system, as well as the fee for preliminary verification of documents, is about 52 US dollars (adjusted by currency fluctuations). For children under the age of 6, only transaction costs are payable (about 2 US dollars).
3. E-visa allows a single entry into Russia for a guest visit or business purposes, as a tourist or participant of scientific, cultural, social, political, economic or sports events.
4. Electronic visa is valid for 60 days, and a person is allowed to stay no more than 16 days after the date of entry.
