MASS VACCINATION AGAINST COVID-19 IN RUSSIA AND

RESUMPTION OF FULL-TIME STUDIES IN SCHOOLS

Following the direction from Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, mass vaccination against COVID-19 for all citizens of the country started on January 18, 2021. As of that date schools in all 85 Russian regions returned back to full-time studies.

It is planned that Russian citizens can get inoculation of one of the registered vaccines, Sputnik V and EpiVacCorona, free of charge. Up to now approximately 2 million people have already been vaccinated with the first registered in the world vaccine (August 11, 2020) – Sputnik V developed by the Gamaleya National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology.

According to the official data, the efficiency of Sputnik V is 91,4%, and 100% against severe cases. Cell-bound immunity remains active for up to 2 years after vaccination.

At present, Sputnik V has been registered in Algeria, Argentine, Belarus, Bolivia, Venezuela, Paraguay, Palestine, Serbia and Turkmenistan.
